Women who changed my world.

Let me explain….

Browsing my local library, kids history section, I discovered there is actually a fair amount of women who have done amazing things over the years that has changed this planet for the better. So when I decided that 2020 would be the year I looked more closely into the lives and actions of these women I spent some time reflecting on how their actions may have impacted on me directly. You see, it feels all to contrite to simply big up the ‘usual’ list of women who HAVE done amazing things. But I’m certain that list would be predictable, and I wanted it to be more than that. I run a business that suports, empowers and ‘cheerleads’ women running their own businesses. When setting up my business, I chose values that reflected my passion for lifting up others, and for being a champion of my local female community. 2020, I believe, is going to be a decade of big change. A decade when kindness becomes a commodity upon which we trade. When support, encouragement and nurturing become values we expect from businesses we purchase from. I believe communities will flourish, as the need for collaboration and collective thinking takes over. So I’ve started to think about how those things will come about in my life.

Going back to my ‘Women Who Changed My World’ series, I wanted to create a list of women, who had made an impact on not only this planet but on my life directly or indirectly. My list will include women throughout history, lesser known as well as famous and (importantly to me) local women, ‘everyday women’ who’s actions or words have left an imprint on me. I’m excited to bring you not only their stories but my interpretations, musings and ideas as to how their lives impact mine. Why? Primarily for the reasons I set out above, however, I like telling and sharing stories. I am a huge believer in human connections, passing on knowledge, inspiring others via words and shining a light on others as a way of bringing about change. I’m hoping you’re here because these are things you care about too, and so that you can be part of sharing, connecting and inspiring by sharing my blog, leaving me your thoughts as comments, and maybe even writing me a guest blog, should you be inclined!

so what next?

I am aiming to share with you the stories of 2 women a month, most likely fortnightly, fingers crossed! There will also be other blogs pop up, sharing with you business tips, hacks, knowledge and my life as a Business Coach.I’d love you to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out on any of the amazing women I share. I will also share a brief snippet of the stories of these women in my fortnightly email newsletter (click the link to be taken to the sign up page)- which also contains some business tips and info on where and how to meet up with some of the local women who inspire me. Feel free to sign up for this too. The first woman on my list is Boudica- Queen of the Iceni. Her story will be in my next blog. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what I share.

Be bold, find balance, be more flamingo! V xx
